WAIMEA — A 53-year-old man with no permanent address died Wednesday after sustaining injuries at the Waimea State Recreational Pier, a county news release states.
There is no reason to believe that foul play was involved, according to police.
A visiting couple noticed the man was in need of medical assistance and notified authorities at about 10:30 a.m., the release states. The couple assisted the man until medics arrived on scene.
Medics transported the man to Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.
The victim’s name will not be released until next of kin has been notified, the release states.
