It was wonderful to see so many young people, artists in their own right, expressing themselves with wild hair, sharp dress and deft moves.
New Image Productions celebrated its 12 years of breakdance promotion on Kaua‘i with a showdown between the talented crews of Kaua‘i and O‘ahu. First they competed one-on-one to see who would take home the “man of the year” title. Next up was the crew versus crew battle where groups went all out for a claim to the huge purple and gold trophy.
Clifton Abuan, who organized the event, said that New Image Productions will be putting out a documentary on international Filipino b-boy culture, called ‘Pnoy B-boy,’ to be released in 2011.
Can’t wait to check it out! I hope to see more of the b-boy cultural expression on Kaua‘i. Much respect to the skilled soldiers of this great art form.
