LIHU‘E — The Garden Island received an e-mail on Wednesday from Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation executive director Diane Nitta:
“The Kauai Interscholastic Federation would like to extend our appreciation to our students, student athletes, coaches, trainers, athletic directors, parents, families, supporters and our entire Kauai community for your continued support throughout this most challenging KIF football season.
This Saturday we are excited to host a first round Division II Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Football Game. Our KIF champions, the Kauai High School Red Raiders, will be playing against the O‘ahu Interscholastic Association White Division runner-up Kalaheo Mustangs. Kickoff at Vidinha Stadium is at 4:30 p.m. and gates will open at 3:30 p.m.
For this opportunity to host a “home” game in the late afternoon, we express appreciation to HHSAA executive director Chris Chun and the Honorable Mayor Bernard Carvalho.
CAS Bill Arakaki shares, ‘On behalf of the Department of Education Kaua‘i Complex Area, I echo the KIF and extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone mentioned above in a successful KIF football season. We have another opportunity to show our pride and spirit by supporting our KIF champion, Kaua‘i High School, in the Division II first round football playoff game. I encourage our fans from Kekaha to Hanalei to come out and support the Kauai High School Red Raiders!’”
