LIHU‘E — Mark Farina, disc jockey and producer, is coming to Kaua‘i for a one-night show Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Rob’s Good Times Grill in Lihu‘e.
Farina is known for playing some of the largest dance events on the planet — from European festivals to the mega clubs of the United Kingdom. Farina has been traveling the globe performing hundreds of shows to more than one million club-goers a year. His sets take fans on a journey to the jazzy side of Chicago house mixed San Francisco style. URB, MUZIK and BPM magazines have placed him on their “Top D.J.s In the World” lists.
For the show on Wednesday, Farina is excited to perform a longer DJ set than usual, totaling more than three hours. Doors open at 9:30 p.m., and Farina’s performance will begin around 10:30 p.m. until the end of the night.
Farina’s recently released “GEOGRAFITTI EP” is being played on dance floors around the world. This six-track EP features new productions, including the single, “THAT’S HOW.” Staying true to his roots, tracks range from funky to deep to tech and jazzy.
While exploring his love for the purist forms of house music, Farina also developed his trademark style: Mushroom Jazz; acid jazz infused with the West Coast’s jazzy, organic productions along with urban beats. Fans embraced Farina’s down-tempo style so much that he started a weekly Mushroom jazz club night in San Francisco with Patty Ryan. In three short years, the club established a fanatical, cult-like following for Farina and the Mushroom Jazz sound. When the doors closed Farina continued the tradition by releasing a series of CDs, titled “Mushroom Jazz.”
This Wednesday at Rob’s, Kaua‘i will get a special sneak peek of Farina’s newest piece, “Mushroom Jazz #7,” which is scheduled to be released internationally Nov. 9.
For one night only, one of the world’s most-famous and beloved house music DJs will be rocking the decks for Kaua‘i’s dance-music supporters. For more information on Farina and “Mushroom Jazz #7,” visit djmarkfarina.net or the InTune Kaua‘i Facebook page.
