LIHU‘E — Joni Hashizume had a hat trick to keep the KSC-Blazing Angels U14 right on the heels of the GIFC BU14, Sunday.
Hashizume scored the Angels’ only goals in their 3-0 win over Lokahi at the Kaua‘i Soccer Association games played at the North Vidinha fields.
With the win, the U14 Angels improve to 3-1-2 and 11 points, just one point back of the GIFC BU14, who played the Westside Falcons to a 0-0 stalemate.
The GIFC BU14 finish the fifth week of the KSA season with a 3-0-3 record and 12 points, while the Falcons sit at third place with a 2-3-1 record and 7 points, just a point ahead of Lokahi who finished Sunday with a 2-2-0 record and 6 points.
Hawaiian Heat round out the standings with a 1-4-0 record and 3 points.
Davin Garma, taking advantage of a long weekend to come back to Kaua‘i from Kamehameha Schools, was in his second game against his brother as a Falcon in the U14 match.
Earlier, he netted two goals along with Cody Gardner to lead the Westside Falcons U12 to a 7-0 win over the KSC-Blazing Angels U12.
Hi‘ilawe Grance, Lyndsie Kashima and Gabby Taboniar opened the Kaua‘i Sparks double-header with goals as the Sparks sewed up a 3-0 win against the GIFC U12. The whiteshirts went on to sweep the series with a 2-0 win in the nightcap, preserving its undefeated record in the standings.
With the sweep, the Kaua‘i Sparks are 5-0-0 for 15 points while the GIFC U12 drop to 2-3-1 and seven points.
The Westside Falcons are in second place with a 4-0-0 record and 12 points, while the KSC-Blazing Angels U12 drops to 0-4-1 and 1 point. The Kaua‘i Extreme Strikers, enjoying a bye over the weekend, are still seeking their first season win at 0-4.
The Westside Falcons U10 took an 8-3 win over the Kilauea Strikers, and Pohaku was a 5-1 winner over Team Chikara ’09. In a score-a-thon, Team Onipa‘a rolled over Team Chikara ’10, 12-0.
Those results produce a three-way logjam for the lead in the Under 10 standings as Pohaku, the Westside Falcons and Team Onipa‘a sport 4-1-0 records and 12 points each.
Team Chikara ’09 drops to 2-3 and 6 points while the Kilauea Strikers end up 1-4 for 3 points. Team Chikara ’10 is still looking for a win at 0-5.
