LIHU‘E — A brush fire that broke out Wednesday night along the Kapa‘a bypass road just north of the Kapa‘a New Park resulted in the evacuation of six homes on Haua‘ala Road, a county press release states.
Police evacuated the residences as a precautionary measure, and closed the northern leg of the bypass road to traffic.
Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters from Kaiakea and Kapa‘a stations responded, were on scene by 9:46 p.m., and had the fire under control by 9:58 p.m., the release states.
The fire was deemed fully extinguished at around 10:45 p.m., and the bypass was reopened shortly afterward.
No one was injured in the fire.
Approximately half an acre of brush was burned in the fire. The cause is undetermined.
