LIHU‘E — The statewide ocean safety conference is Thursday and Friday at the Kaua‘i Marriott at Kalapaki.

The event will feature special guest speakers and discussion on how water safety officers can better represent themselves so that in the future they won’t receive paycuts or furloughs as essential public safety workers don’t get them, according to a news release.

There will also be a panel discussion about guide book responsibility, the release says.
