KOLOA — A public information meeting regarding the proposed construction of a roadway segment that would connect the two Koloa bypass roads is scheduled on Aug. 26, a news release states.
The meeting will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Koloa Elementary School.
A brief presentation on the connector road project along with the Draft Environmental Assessment will be provided.
Copies of the Draft EA are available for review at the following libraries: Koloa Public/School Library; Lihu‘e Public Library; Kaua‘i Community College; and the Hawai‘i State Library on O‘ahu.
In addition, the Draft EA can be viewed online at the state Department of Health – Office of Environmental Quality Control website.
Referred to as the “Northern Leg of the Western Bypass Road,” the new road will run between Maluhia and Koloa roads and link Ala Kinoiki and Ala Kalanikaumaka bypass roads.
The connector road is a key component in the county’s plan to improve traffic flow and circulation in the south shore area.
For more information or to request an American Sign Language interpreter, alternative format, or an auxiliary aid, call Ken Teshima with the Department of Public Works at 241-4995 at least seven days before the meeting.
