Dean Karnazes, otherwise known as the “Ultra Marathon” Man, is the official host of The Kaua‘i Marathon, a news release states.
Many know Karnazes as the man who ran 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days, finishing with the world-famous New York Marathon.
Besides being known as a celebrated endurance athlete, he has also written best selling books on health and wellness, as well motivated thousands around the world at speaking engagements focusing on the importance of exercise and a good diet. Time Magazine recently rated him No. 27 in World’s Most Influential People.
Bart Yasso has been named the official Running Ambassador and Co-Host of the event. As the “Chief Runner” of Runner’s World magazine, Yasso brings a depth of knowledge to The Kaua‘i Marathon. He has run races on all seven continents and recently released a book aptly titled “My Life on the Run.”
Both will be speaking at a panel discussion on Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. on the Sheraton Lawn at the finish line. The discussion is free of charge and open to the public.
The 2nd Annual Kaua‘i Marathon is scheduled for Sept. 5 in Po‘ipu. The event offers marathon and half marathon distances, which are certified by USATF and AIMS. For more information, visit www.thekauaimarathon.com.
