The Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce announces its upcoming events throughout the month of August with programs open to the membership and general public.
The Government Affairs Committee has scheduled two debates including a Governor’s Debate from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Aug. 5 at Kaua’i Community College, Performing Arts Center, with doors open to the public at 6 p.m. The debate will be moderated by Lara Yamada, anchor KITV4 and Kapa‘a High school alumnus.
On Aug. 12 at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall, a Lieutenant Governor’s Debate will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with doors open to the public at 4:30 p.m. The debate will be moderated by Hawai‘i News Now anchor and Waimea High School alumnus, Noel Keahi Tucker. Both events are free and the public is encouraged to arrive promptly.
“A Quintessential Business After Hours” hosted by St. Regis Princeville is the Chamber’s next networking event from 5 to 7 p.m., August 3 at The Bay Terrace. This special and first event by the resort for the Chamber will introduce attendees to its “Inner Circle” program that offers kama‘aina benefits such as discounts at the resort. The resort’s culinary and banquet service team will have ‘Butler Passed Hors d’oeuvres,’ Chefs Action Stations, EVO Grill, Chinese Chicken Salad and Butler Passed Sweets that are Chef Inspired as part of the food tasting. Fee is $22. General Manager Milton Sgarbi and the resorts’ staff welcome attendees to experience a quintessential evening at the St. Regis Princeville, Kaua‘i’s newest resort accommodation.
A third political event in partnership with the West Kaua‘i Business & Professional Association, a free Candidates’ Political Forum, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Waimea Theater Aug. 30 and is also open to the public.
To conclude August events, Ka‘ala Souza will return to Kaua‘i Aug. 25 to present two workshops including: The Aloha Touch: The Head, Heart, a Hands of Excellence — Customer Service from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and One Team: The Pursuit of Lokahi in the Workplace from: 1 to 5 p.m. at the Aston Kaua‘i Beach Resort at Maka‘iwa. Fees vary with discounts applying for Chamber members and multiple registrations. Workshops are also available to the public and non-members. Enrollment is limited per workshop in order to maximize participation and value.
In partnership with The Society for Human Resource Management Hawai‘i Educational Foundation, HR Basics for New Practitioner & Small Businesses is a morning workshop from 8 a.m. to noon, Aug. 26 at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa. Anna Elento-Sneed will present the workshop.
