LIHU‘E — The name of the 19-year-old woman who died Sunday at The Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu after sustaining injuries in a one-car crash earlier that morning is Jessie Monroe of Kileaua, county spokeswoman Mary Daubert said Monday.
A female juvenile who was also an occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash sustained minor injuries. She was treated at Wilcox Memorial Hospital and released to her parents, a county news release states.
The two were northbound on Kuhio Highway near the north end of Aleka Loop at around 1:15 a.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle, went off the highway and crashed into a boulder on the makai side of the road, according to a preliminary report.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
