Raphael Ramos
Raphael “The Vacuum Man” Martelles Ramos of Kalaheo died June 5, 2010, at his home at age 81. Born on January 1, 1929, in Honolulu, he retired from Kaua‘i filter Queen.
He was preceded in death by his son Joey Ramos, and daughter Angeline Ramos.
He is survived by his wife Oremenia “Meni” Ramos of Kalaheo; daughters Barbara (Takeshi) Nakato of Kalaheo, and Kalola of Molokai; sisters Rose (Fernando) Ribao, and Francis Masterson, both of Maui; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Victoria Simonelli
Victoria “Vicki” Lynn Simonelli of Kapa‘a died June 10, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 43. Born on May 26, 1967, in Maryland, she was the educational manager at Child and Family Service/Head Start program.
She is survived by her mother Margie Simonelli of California; fiancé Timothy Reagan of Kapa‘a; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 19, at Kealia Beach south side.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Head Start Program, 2970 Kele St., Suite 203, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.

Tokie Miyake
Tokie Emoto Miyake of Lihu‘e died May 23, 2010, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 86. Born on Sept. 30, 1923, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she retired as a bakery helper with TipTop Café and Bakery.
She is survived by her daughter Annette (Michael) Oda of Lihu‘e; brother Masa (Irene) Emoto of Kalaheo; sister Yukiko Vanlandingham of Florida; grandchildren Dr. Paris (Naoko) Oda of Honolulu, Alia (Davis Meza) Oda of San Jose, and Dr. Aaries (Genevieve) Oda of Lihu‘e; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.

James PuniJames Kaleinani “Uncle Jimmy” Puni of Kapa‘a died May 31, 2010, at Samuel Mahelona Hospital at age 70. Born on March 20, 1940, in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator for F.T. Opperman.
He was preceded in death by Jamie Ann (Bradford) Pikini.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Puni; son Bishop Frank (Lauri) Puni Sr.; daughters Alexie Ann Puni and Mary Ann (Mele) Puni; hanai son Juan Lopez; hanai daughters Druscilla (Tim) Summers, Paulette (Luther) Yam, Mary Ann (Semon) Francisco and Dayna Lee (Timothy) Santiago; brother Norman Puni; sisters Yvonne (Haunani) De Canto, Aloma (Hauoli) Puni and Ava (Pomai) Kridler; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 14 hanai grandchildren.
Visitation at 8:30 a.m., service from 10:30 to 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 24, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center. Private burial will be held.
Aloha attire is suggested.

Pacita “Nani” Nievera Corpuz of Puhi died June 6, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 78. Born on February 1, 1932, in Santa Ana, Manila, Philippines, she retired as a field worker with Lihu‘e Sugar Plantation.
She was preceded in death by her husband Simplicio Corpuz; stepson George Corpuz; sisters Milagros Robles and Conchita Nievera; brothers Salvador Nievera and Alfredo Nievera.
She is survived by her children Edita “Didi” (John) Lung of Las Vegas, Nev., Calvin (Liberty) Corpuz of Puhi, Emeline “Rose” (Calvin) Lalin of Wailua Homesteads, Evelyn (Donald) Gonsalves of Lihu‘e and Julie (Michael) Broyles of Hanapepe; stepchildren Jay (Bennie) Dela Cruz of Seal Beach, Calif., Josephine (Tony) Geraldo of O‘ahu, Larry (Estrella) Corpuz of Castle Rock, Colo., and Peter (Marjie) Corpuz of Sequoia, Calif.; sisters Cecilia (Jr.) Anchoris and Remidios (Roger) Remenente; brother Romi (Rose) Nievera all of Alberta, Canada; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 8 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 26, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
