LIHU‘E — Margie Haber, one of Hollywood’s top acting and audition-technique coaches, is coming to Kaua‘i to teach her internationally-renowned seminar for actors who are just starting out or have been acting for years.
Haber has coached A-list talent including Brad Pitt, Halle Berry, Vince Vaughan and Mariska Hargitay.
Kaua‘i community member Jason Blake is the organizer of the event. “We have so many talented people on Kaua‘i but there is a lack of great training available,” Blake said in a press release. “This is especially important considering so many Hollywood projects are now coming to Hawai‘i.”
Haber’s name on a résumé can sometimes make the difference if an actor gets an audition or not (from a Hollywood casting director), and the skills she teaches help actors land more parts once they do get the auditions, the press release states.
Blake contacted her on a whim and though she turns down teaching opportunities every day, she said she needed a short vacation and would come to Kaua‘i.
Author of “How To Get the Part Without Falling Apart,” Haber teaches actors to “Stop Acting and Start Living the Life of the Person.” She will be teaching a workshop from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 29. Cost is $125 for Kaua‘i residents. Anyone traveling from another island will receive a $25 discount after providing proof of travel. Advanced registration is recommended as the event is expected to fill as actors are expected to come from all islands. The location will be in Lihu‘e. Donations are also being sought for young actors who cannot afford the workshop.
