LIHU‘E — The University of Hawai‘i Rainbow baseball team (33-26) will play in the Tempe, Ariz., regional in the NCAA Tournament, according to the UH athletic department.
The ‘Bows will be facing San Diego (36-20) in their first game on Friday at Packard Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University.
Arizona State (47-8), the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed, is the host of the regional, and will face Milwaukee (33-24) in their first round game.
The Rainbows faced the Toreros once during the regular season, winning 8-6 in a game that featured a grand slam by Christian Johnson.
Hawai‘i earned the No. 3 seed in the regional after winning the Western Athletic Conference Tournament with a 9-6 victory over Fresno State, Sunday.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN 1420 AM radio with Don Robbs calling the action.
