Matsuyo Tamura
Matsuyo Fukumoto Tamura of Lihu‘e died May 22, 2010, at Garden Isle Healthcare at age 100. Born on May 1, 1910, in Lihu‘e, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Akira Tamura.
She is survived by her son Charles (Akiko) Tamura of Culver City, Calif.; daughters Takako Mizutani of Lihu‘e and Akiko (Ramon) Yamamoto; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Yukitoshi (Hilda) Inouye of Lihu‘e; sister Hanayo (Kiyoshi) Kawamura of Kilauea; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Melvin Corpuz Sr.
Melvin Corpuz Sr. of ‘Ele‘ele died May 21, 2010, at his home at age 65.
Born on Nov. 14, 1944, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired operator and truck driver at Koga Engineering and Construction, and a union member with Operating Engineers Local 3.
He was preceded in death by his father Dionicio Corpuz and brother Ronald Corpuz.
He is survived by his wife LaVerne Corpuz; sons Melvin Corpuz Jr. and Lance (Carl-lynn Keoho-Kaui) Corpuz; mother Lorencia Corpuz; granddaughter Zhara-Lei Corpuz; brothers Clarence (Sharon) Corpuz and Milton Corpuz; sisters Christine Pardua, Patricia (Thomas) Rivera and Paula (Harold) Rosa.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 12, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
