HANAMA‘ULU — The Kiwanis Club of Kaua‘i presented four scholarships to four graduating Kaua‘i High School seniors during its Tuesday meeting at the Hanama‘ulu Cafe. Sheldon Chu, son of Eric and Donna Chu, was one of the $1,000 scholarship recipients.
HANAMA‘ULU — The Kiwanis Club of Kaua‘i presented four scholarships to four graduating Kaua‘i High School seniors during its Tuesday meeting at the Hanama‘ulu Cafe.
Sheldon Chu, son of Eric and Donna Chu, was one of the $1,000 scholarship recipients. Sheldon, the president of the Kaua‘i High School Key Club which operates under the auspices of the Kiwanis, plans to major in electrical engineering at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo.
Another electrical-engineering major, Tyler Navarro, also accepted a $1,000 scholarship. The son of Damien and Charlene Navarro, Tyler plans to pursue his degree at Purdue University.
Kimberly Oride, the daughter of Leighton and Debbie Oride, was one of two $500 scholarship recipients. She plans to major in advertising at the Academy of Art University.
Daisy Liberato, the daughter of Rolly and Dominga Liberato, also accepted a $500 scholarship toward her major in emergency medical services. She plans on attending Creighton University.
This year, the four recipients are all from Kaua‘i High School. According to one of the Kiwanis, there were no applicants from Kapa‘a High School.
The scholarship recipients and their parents were hosted to dinner as part of their awards.
