OK, now that KIF and the Visitor Industry Charity Walk is behind us, it’s time to check out chefs Ben Takahashi and Ikaika Manaku at the Sheraton Kaua‘i’s Chef Challenges, Wednesday nights.
Jacob Vogelgesang was busy helping serve up the seafood gumbo at the walk as was Stephanie Kaluahine Read of the St. Regis at Princeville (congratulations to Kyson Gusukuma on winning the grand prize… looks like mom Debbie Kincaid is going to have a great massage).
The media were out in force as Ron Wiley did double-duty as the event emcee as well as joining Mark Valentin in the Murano (great place to hide from the rain) for on-the-spot reports from around the course. Dickie Chang and Bruce Smalling were everywhere in the walk as well.
But the media Oscar goes to BB Choi of FM97 (they even had walkers before the M. Kawamura live broadcast) who did not abandon Jason Fujinaka (he’s got another week of vacation) during the fire in Puhi last week. Everyone else was at the Grove Farm Park, but BB kept on airing in the smoke.
