• The Garden Island reported in Wednesday’s county-budget stories that by the start of fiscal year 2011, beginning July 1, the county will have approximately $17.35 million in unassigned funds. Those numbers should’ve included $7.35 million the county saved when it got good rates while negotiating bond floats for capital-improvement projects, plus another roughly $5 million that will be confirmed in the next six weeks, from estimated revenues over expenditures in the current fiscal year. After subtracting approved budget appropriations of $1.44 million in the current fiscal year, the county’s estimated unassigned reserves should be $28.26 million, according to a document used in a presentation Monday by county Finance Department Director Wally Rezentes Jr.
