LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i County Council and the Office of the County Clerk–Council Services Division will be temporarily relocating all operations from the Historic County Building to the former Hale Kaua‘i building located at 3371 Wilcox Road in Nawiliwili (adjacent to Honsador Lumber at Nawiliwili Harbor) beginning this week.
This temporary relocation is part of the county’s longstanding plan to renovate the Historic County Building, which has been in the county’s Capital Improvement Program budget for nearly 10 years, a news release states.
Relocation activities are anticipated to take two weeks and the Office of the County Clerk–Council Services Division expects to be fully operational in their new location on April 5.
During this transitional period, the public will have limited access to Council records at the Historic County Building, Room 206, as all record files are in the process of being relocated and re–organized at the new Wilcox Road facility.
Operations of the Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk remain at the Historic County Annex Building located at 4386 Rice Street, Suite 101, telephone contact number 241–4800.
Council Committee meetings previously scheduled on Wednesday and the Council meeting scheduled on March 31 have been cancelled. No council or committee meetings or workshops are anticipated to be held during the weeks of March 22 and March 29, with the exception of the Special Budget and Finance Committee meeting and Special Council Meeting that was held on Monday to introduce the mayor’s proposed Fiscal Year 2010–2011 Operating and Capital Improvement Program Budgets and the proposed Fiscal Year 2010–2011 Real Property Tax rate resolution for First Reading.
Meetings at the temporary facility on Wilcox Road will re–commence April 7 with the next scheduled Council Committee meetings, and will continue on April 9 with Fiscal Year 2010–2011 Departmental Budget Reviews.
Effective March 29, the new mailing address for the Kaua‘i County Council and the Office of the County Clerk–Council Services Division will be: 3371 Wilcox Road, Unit 101, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
Also effective March 29, the new main telephone number to reach the Kaua‘i County Council and the Office of the County Clerk–Council Services Division will be 241-4188.
The office’s existing facsimile number, 241–6349, and e-mail addresses remain the same.
