KALAHEO — Alyssa Miyamoto may show only two points in the scorebook, but was invaluable in getting the ball to other Westside girls in their 30-16 win over the Kaulupono Girls, Thursday night.
The Kawamura twins, Kristin and Kaylin, combined for 14 points to lead Lihu‘e to a 33-10 win over the Kamikaze in the second game of the county’s 11 and Under girls basketball program at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Miyamoto teamed with Brandee Burton as power forwards, moving the ball to players needing court time once the Westside Girls established a 10-2 opening frame.
Kiani Kawamura, working the inside, finished with a game-high 12 points for Westside, followed by Burton adding eight points and Shiloh Peleras finishing with six points. Brianna Mizumoto-Manuel joined Miyamoto with a pair.
Kiarra Palacio, experienced from the 13 and Under league, served the same purpose for Kaulupono, moving the ball under pressure and getting it to the inside players.
She finished with eight points to lead the team scoring, followed by Jasmine Santella adding six points. A pair from BreeAnn Cayaban rounded out the effort.
Kristin Kawamura finished with a game-high 10 points, followed by Motu Taumalolo adding seven points. Kaylin Kawamura, Tavehi Tafiti and Marissa Martinez each finished with four points. Pairs from Laura Koga and Hina Tafiti rounded out the win.
