Bienvenido ‘Ben’ Bergonia
Bienvenido “Ben” Bergonia of Lihu‘e died Feb. 17, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 70. Born on July 13, 1939, in Lihu‘e, he was a heavy machine operator for Lihu‘e Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugenio and Marie Bergonia; wife Eugenia “Genie” Madrid Bergonia; granddaughter Lorena Bergonia; brothers Victor Bergonia and Martin Bergonia; and sister Marcela Basconcillo.
He is survived by his son Norman (Triana) Bergonia; daughters Rose (Sonny) Koerte, Jaselyn (Jon Sr.) Garcia, LaFrance (Lori) Bergonia; brothers Frederico Bergonia and Julian Bergonia; sisters Marciana Ballesteros, Lapaz Fisher and Isabella Julian; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Viewing from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on March 13, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia. Burial at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.

Derek Albarado
Derek Anthony Albarado of Honolulu died Feb. 25, 2010, at Queen’s Medical Center at age 46. Born on Oct. 3, 1968, in Honolulu, he worked as campus security at Roosevelt High School.
He is survived by his sons Anthony Albarado, Roland Kai Albarado and Dustin Albarado; daughters Mailelani Albarado and Keshanna Albarado; one grandchild; parents Roland “Pat” and Lorraine Albarado; brother Keith Albarado; ex-wife Lena Wilson.
Visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 13, at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Pali Highway. Cremation to follow.
Nemecio Villanueva
Nemecio G. Villanueva of Koloa died March 4, 2010, at Palolu Hospice Hawai‘i, O‘ahu, at age 70. Born on March 3, 1940, in Hawai‘i, he was a taro farmer.
He is survived by his sons Jarret (Teresa Texeira) Villanueva, Michael (Carmel) Villanueva and Troy (Hennie Miner) Villanueva; daughters Jonilyn V. (Gary) Garza and Michaeline (Karl) Kunewa; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister Rosita (Mike) Fitzgerald.
Visitation and service from 3 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, March 21, at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kapa‘a.

Graciela ‘Grace’ Steele
Graciela “Grace” Steele died March 7, 2010, at Garden Island Healthcare in Lihu‘e. Born on Feb. 9, 1933, in New York City, she worked in the restaurant and hotel industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband H. Clinton Steele and two brothers.
She is survived by daughter Lucy Douthitt of Lihu‘e; son Bill (Mary) Douthitt of Belleville, Ill., grandson Tyler Douthitt of Fairview Heights, Ill., and David Douthitt of Lihu‘e; granddaughter Stephanie (Joel) Maisenhelder of Chesterfield, Mo.; great-grandson Alex Maisenhelder of Chesterfield, Mo.; sisters Cointa Nunez of New York City and Amelia Carrizales of Indiana; 10 nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 10 a.m., on Saturday, March 13, at Lihu‘e Lutheran Church.
Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rodney Ahn
Rodney Soo Yong Ahn of Kalalau died Feb. 14, 2010, at Kalalau at age 58. Born on Nov. 14, 1951, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a substitute teacher for the Department of Education.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Grace Ahn.
He is survived by his brother Nolan (Jennie) Ahn; sisters Lorna Muraoka, Suzanne (Richard) Matsumoto and Maxine (Darick) Akita; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 1 p.m., service at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 28, at the Kekaha Harbor House. Ashes to be scattered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Na Pali Coast ‘Ohana in memory of Rodney Ahn.
