Alyssa Miyamoto, one of the strong posts for the Westside Girls, posted 11 points to lead her team to a 23-5 win over the Kamikaze in the county’s 11 and Under girls basketball game, Thursday.
Miyamoto led Westside to an 8-0 opening period with four points, adding a three-ball in the third frame on the way to nine of her game-total points in the first half.
Westside got balanced scoring with Athena Abadilla — the Kaua‘i District Spelling Bee champion — Alyssa Pigao and Samantha Nichols, each netting four points.
Ashley Lucas topped the Kamikaze with three points and Macy Tamura added a pair in the effort.
Karen Matsumoto, who takes care of the scoring table at the county’s 11 Under league, said the county will be working to reschedule games in the girls league after one team dropped out of the program.
Games that were cancelled by the tsunami threat, Saturday, have been rescheduled. The boys games will be played on March 27 with Lihu‘e taking on Team Central starting at 9 a.m. and Hanakila going up against Papalina II starting at 10 a.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The girls games will be played on March 29 when Kaulupono will tangle with the Westside starting at 6 p.m.
