LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Planning and Action Alliance is developing a new, searchable, online Directory of Community Organizations as a handy reference for the community, a news release states.
KPAA is gathering up-to-date information from all of Kaua‘i’s nonprofit organizations and community groups about their services.
“Our goal is to include all of the nonprofits and community groups on the island so we can make their information more accessible to the public,” said Diane Zachary, president and CEO of KPAA. “There are many new groups and organizations that not everyone may know about. This website will help promote them.”
Internet users will be able to search for an organization by name, by type of service, by geographic area, and other criteria to locate the programs that best suit the user’s needs, the release states.
From 2003 to 2008, KPAA hosted the Online Directory of Community Organizations, which included Kaua‘i nonprofits and community groups, on their Web site www.kauainetwork.org. KPAA is making some changes to its website with a new format for the Directory — and a need for up-to-date information.
KPAA is requesting that all community groups and nonprofits, new and established, contact its office to be listed in the directory.
Zachary said, “There is a simple form to fill out and it only takes about five minutes to complete and send in to KPAA via fax, e-mail or mail.” Only those that provide their information will be listed in the Directory.
There is no fee to be listed. However, organizations must be community-based or not-for-profit groups that serve the island of Kaua‘i. Faith-based organizations may list programs offered to the public, such as a food pantry for example, but cannot list faith-based services. If you would like to have your organization’s information posted in the online directory, contact KPAA by calling 632-2005 or e-mailing drosenkranz@kauainetwork.org.
