The following individuals recently launched a business, were appointed to a leadership position or honored for their work in the business community:
Malika Elsaieh-Rowe and Georgine Deason
Malika Elsaieh-Rowe and Georgine Deason received top honors as employee and manager of the year, respectively, among nearly 1,000 employees at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa. They were recognized at the resort’s annual awards banquet held in December.
As one of the first people guests meet upon arrival, Elsaieh-Rowe’s smiling face at the Front Desk is a welcome sight. Her enthusiasm immediately makes guests feel as if they have returned to their home away from home. Her generous nature is clear as she engages guests in conversation sharing her deep knowledge of both the resort and island, suggesting places to go and things to do. Malika began her career with the Hyatt Kauai nearly 14 years ago.
As the Food and Beverage Assistant Director, a day in the life of Deason is unpredictable. Ranging from quiet administrative tasks to racing from restaurant to restaurant assisting in any way needed, there is never a dull moment. Having started her career with Hyatt as a hostess at the Hyatt Regency Maui, Deason worked her way up to where she now oversees six restaurants and lounges, supervises, coaches and mentors thirteen managers, in addition to assisting with day-to-day operations.
For their extraordinary contributions to the resort’s success, Elsaieh-Rowe and Deason receive an additional five days paid vacation, airfare for two to the continental U.S., Canada or the Caribbean, six additional complimentary nights at Hyatt hotels, in addition to spending money.
