Jimmy Yagi and Bill O’Rear are coming for a free basketball clinic, at Kaua‘i High School, today. Jimmy always makes it a point to take in the Friday night basketball game before the clinic so he can talk to the high school players about their style of play. One of the benefits of the Yagi clinic is usually, Linda Lopez comes home and joins Peter Rayno and the other referees in officiating the game.
A little more down the road, the Waimea Town Celebration (Lorna Santos is getting the Lawa‘i Cannery sale off on Jan. 31 to avoid Super Sunday and the Waimea Town Celebration) should be more exciting since Steve Kelly and Cherry, Cherry (mahalo, Kari PcPhail) will be playing on two days.
The night before, the band from Seattle, Wash., will be doing a fundraiser for Nana’s House at the Waimea Theater. Last year, they did a benefit for the Kaua‘i Food Bank and played on the North Shore. This year, the band moves West to the town celebration.
