Larry Rivera has gone international! He said he received an e-mail requesting his composition, “Father Damien” be translated into Flemish (he said he didn’t even know a word like that existed) and the song be sung during an inauguration in Belgium on St. Damien’s birthday, Jan. 3.
Carol Courtney of Coco Palms Records (only got to meet her when Larry launched his eighth CD at Borders last month) said a stained glass likeness of St. Damien was to be unveiled at this event as well.
In the meantime, Larry and Gloria (she was lunching at Tip Top, Sunday) were involved in the first big Blue Hawai‘i wedding over the New Year’s weekend. What a great way to start the New Year!
And just down the road, wasn’t that Vaughn Meatoga joining the wait crowd at Hamura Saimin?
One of the joys of the holidays is seeing all those students who come home from college. Kori Sakamoto still had her job at Lappert’s and was dispensing free ice cream during the giveaway. She was helping Aiko Grande and Lorrine Lagoc at the basketball game since she had to go back to Pacific University.
Shana Tafiti also leaves this week so she can start softball practice for the Las Vegas Classic, starting Jan. 29 (any takers?).
