KALAHEO — Those who missed the Nov. 19 meeting on the landfill siting process will have another opportunity to see a presentation on the process, and also provide input, a county press release states.
The meeting will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Kalaheo Elementary School cafeteria.
Included on the agenda will be the same information that was presented at the previous meeting — the results of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Landfill Site Selection ranking process and the next steps in siting the new landfill.
The presentation will be made by R.M. Towill, Inc., the consultant that conducted the MACLS process.
Following the presentation, the public will be invited to express their views on the landfill siting process.
To access the PowerPoint presentation that will be made at the meeting, please log on to the county’s Web site, www.kauai.gov/newlandfillsite.
Based on the results of the study, Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. sent a communication to the County Council in August stating that the administration intends to proceed with the next steps to further evaluate the feasibility of developing a landfill at the Umi site.
The site is located along Halewili Road between Kalaheo and Niumila Camp. The land is owned by Alexander & Baldwin, Inc.
