Nainoa Perez ran for two touchdowns and Zayren Terukina was perfect on three point-after kicks to lead Ewa to a 24-0 shutout of the Lihu‘e Patriots Junior PeeWee, Sunday.
Perez, putting Ewa on the boards with a one-yard plunge, capped the win with a nine-yard scamper with 1:15 left in the first half.
Kainoa Ganacial also tapped paydirt on a two-yard run.
All of the scoring took place in the second quarter, starting with Perez opening the period with a score less than a minute into the frame.
With the win, Ewa will head to the National Pop Warner Superbowl in Florida while Lihu‘e returns home until next year.
Lihu‘e earned the right to play Ewa at Aloha Stadium after squeezing past the Kapa‘a Eagles JPW in the final game of the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League season.
Up until that point, the Eagles held off the challenge by the Patriots, but with only a point separating the two teams, the Eagles could only hope for a tie to force a playoff.
The Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League wrapped up its 2009 tackle football and cheer season Saturday, by hosting the annual Shrine Game in an East-West format through four age brackets.
All proceeds from that day will benefit the Shriner’s Hospital.
