WAIMEA — The county Department of Water will be connecting a new waterline in Waimea from 8 a.m. on Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday and is asking area residents to practice water conservation measures during this period.
While the work is being done, the booster pump between Waimea and Kekaha will be offline, and Waimea residents will only have water in the tanks to draw from, a county news release says.
In order to keep the amount of fluctuation in water pressure at a minimum, Waimea residents will need to be diligent about reducing their water usage during this period.
Suggested water conservation measures include: refraining from washing cars; reducing outdoor irrigation; and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.
The Department of Water would like to thank Waimea residents and visitors for conserving water during this time as well as for their patience.
The Waimea project is part of Water Plan 2020, a comprehensive long-range plan that includes replacing aging and deteriorating waterlines.
