LIHU‘E — The KIF All-Star team for girls volleyball was named Wednesday, showing a good mix between the four schools making up the seven-member squad.
At outside hitter, it was Waimea’s Jayme Jacinto, Kaua‘i’s Krystin Yasay and Kapa‘a’s Tyleen Morita getting the nod.
The two middle blockers were Waimea’s Brandee Victorino and Kapa‘a’s Tori Tuttle, each showcasing their net dominance during the year.
Island School’s Micheala Sullivan was designated as All-Star setter, a big reason for the Voyagers’ steady improvement throughout the season.
Waimea’s Vakeesha Lagazo was selected as libero.
The Lady Menehune’s undefeated season was reflected in the Player of the Year decision, with Jacinto taking home the top prize. Not surprisingly, Waimea head coach Chad Delanoza was tabbed Coach of the Year.
The All-Star team shows the youth and promise in the KIF, as only two of the seven All-Stars — Yasay and Tuttle — are seniors. The rest are juniors with Lagazo making her mark as just a sophomore.
