LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a Eagle Junior Midget Leevi Bethel pulled in one touchdown pass and ran for another TD to lead the Kapa‘a Eagles to a 31-0 win over the Hanapepe Colts, Saturday at Vidinha Stadium.
That win clinches the Junior Midget championship for the Eagles, now with a 7-0-1 record and 15 points with one more regular season game scheduled this Saturday.
The Hanapepe Colts drop to a tie for third place with the Kekaha Chargers, both teams finishing the weekend with 2-5 records and four points.
Koloa, enjoying the bye this weekend, sits in second place with a 5-1-1 record and 11 points.
The Lihu‘e Patriots Junior Midgets, suffering a 26-12 defeat at the hands of the Kekaha Chargers, end the week with a 1-6 record and two points.
Acetyn Emayo scored all four of the Kekaha touchdowns, one in each quarter with Dusty Perreira doing the point-after kick after Emayo’s 41-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
In the win, Emayo peeled off scoring runs of 73 yards in the first quarter, added 33 yards in the second quarter and rounded out the day with a 51-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
Lihu‘e came back from a 12-0 halftime deficit to score on a 23-yard Kanoa Iwasaki pass to Chanse Ramirez with 6:12 showing in the third period.
Kaiea Iwasaki charged two yards into the end zone for Lihu‘e’s second score that came with 2:57 showing in the game.
The Kapa‘a Eagles Junior PeeWee team locked up a 24-2 win over Hanapepe, but the championship in that division will have to wait until this weekend. Kapa‘a JPW finishes the week with a 6-1-1 record and 13 points, just one point ahead of a Lihu‘e Patriots JPW team that, with its 20-6 win over Kekaha, sits at 6-1 and 12 points, just a point behind Kapa‘a.
Kekaha drops to 3-3-1 and seven points in third place, followed by Koloa (2-5) with four points in fourth place. The Hanapepe Colts rounds out the division at 0-7.
Daniel Lagana ran for two touchdowns in the first half to lead Kapa‘a JPW to its
24-2 win over Hanapepe.
Lagana peeled off scoring runs of 29 yards in the first quarter 21 yards in the second quarter before Christopher Yam carried the ball a yard to score in the third period.
Henry Kupihea capped the win on an 11-yard dash with 5:55 showing in the contest.
Lanakila Wilson threw for a touchdown and ran one in to lead Lihu‘e JPW to its
20-6 win over Kekaha.
Wilson’s one-yard scoring charge was the only score in the first half and Ryland Peahu opened the second half with a 58-yard run to the end zone. Aaron Renaud added the PAT boot for the 14-0 nod that stood until the end of the quarter when Wilson found Douglas Miyasato on a 15-yard scoring pass at the 1:05 mark.
Kekaha’s sole score came in the fourth period when Shandon San Agustin-Nordmeier prevented a shutout with a six-yard charge into the end zone with 1:06 showing on the clock.
Koloa will open against Kekaha in the morning series starting at 9 a.m. at Hanapepe Stadium, Saturday. The JPW game will be followed by the Jr. Midgets at 11 a.m. Hanapepe hosts Lihu‘e in the afternoon series starting with the JPW match at 1:30 p.m. and the Jr. Midgets on the field starting at 3:30 p.m.
