The heel-bone relic of St. Damien of Moloka‘i will tour Kaua‘i on Wednesday and Thursday with special services planned at five churches around the island starting today.
Father William Shannon, Vicar for Kaua‘i, said in a letter that the people of Kaua‘i are invited to attend the sacred relic services.
Father Herman Gomes, SSCC, pastor of St. Ann Church in Kane‘ohe, O‘ahu, will preach at all of the Kaua‘i masses and services.
Pope Benedict XVI canonized Blessed Father Damien of Moloka‘i on Oct. 11 and Bishop Larry Silva was presented a relic of Saint Damien for a permanent home at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu.
There will be an opportunity to prayerfully venerate the relic after each of the services listed here:
Wednesday: Prayer service at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e starts at 7 p.m.
Thursday: School and Parish Mass at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a starts at 8 a.m.
Thursday: School and Parish Mass at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha starts at 11 a.m.
Thursday: Prayer service at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo starts at 3 p.m.
Thursday: Mass at St. Raphael Church in Koloa starts at 6:30 p.m.
