Julian James Punohu Kanehailua of Hanapepe died July 21, 2009, at Tripler Army Hospital at age 63. Born on July 20, 1946, in Kaua‘i, he was a truck driver for Kaua‘i Commercial.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Lewis, wife Dale Kanehailua, brothers John Kanehailua and Allen Lewis.
He is survived by his brothers Delbert (Anita) Lewis and Adrian Lewis Jr.; sister Leimomi Alapai; sons Jody Kanehailua and Andrew Meade; grandchildren Onipa‘a Kanehailua, Kawena Kanehailua, Iray Kanehailua, Carlie Rose Kanehailua, Nai‘aleleikanalu Kanehailua; numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing at 10 a.m., burial at noon, Saturday, Oct. 3, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
Rosalina Labrador
Rosalina Labrador of Lihu‘e died Sept. 24, 2009, at Samuel Mahelona Hospital at age 79. Born on Feb. 10, 1930, in Hawai‘i, she was a retired cook.
She is survived by her husband Perfecto Labrador Sr.; sons Perfecto (Carol) Labrador Jr. and Adrian (Marilyn) Labrador; sisters Megdalina Quirido, Nora Carveiro and Pat Reyes; brothers Alfredo and Mussy De Fabian; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa.

Bernard Abella
Bernard Abella, formerly of Anahola and Kapa‘a, died Aug. 17, 2009, in Burns, Ore., at age 75.
He was a veteran who served with the U.S. Marine Corp. in Korea during the Korean conflict. He was employed with Crown Zellerbach, Paper Division, and worked for them throughout the Pacific Northwest in various capacities.
He was preceded in death by his wife Leah, brother Harry Abilla and parents Teofilo and Isabella Tacbian.
He is survived by sisters Helen Abilla Flores of Seaside, Ore., and Louise (Daniel) Abilla Melendez of Kapa‘a; brothers Robert (Joanne) Tacbian of Oceanside, Calif., and Teofilo Phil (Cosie) Tacbian of Kapa‘a; and sister-in-law Hermina Abilla of Kane‘ohe.
A memorial service was held in Seaside, Ore., on Sept. 26.
