Julian James Punohu Kanehailua of Hanapepe died Aug. 21, 2009, at Tripler Army Hospital at age 63. Born on Aug. 20, 1946, in Kaua‘i, he was a truck driver for Kaua‘i Commercial.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Lewis, wife Dale Kanehailua, brothers John Kanehailua and Allen Lewis.
He is survived by his brothers Delbert (Anita) Lewis and Adrian Lewis Jr.; sister Leimomi Alapai; sons Jody Kanehailua and Andrew Meade; grandchildren Onipa‘a Kanehailua, Kawena Kanehailua, Iray Kanehailua, Carlie Rose Kanehailua, Nai‘aleleikanalu Kanehailua; numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing at 10 a.m., burial at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
Gentoku Kamiya
Gentoku Kamiya of Kekaha died Sept. 23, 2009, at Maui Memorial Medical Center at age 88. Born on Feb. 26, 1921, in Kekaha, he retired as a custodian with Kekaha Elementary School.
He is survived by his wife Kay Kamiya of Kekaha; son Dennis (Kim) Kamiya of O‘ahu; daughters Doris (Myron) Arakaki of Kaua‘i, Lorraine (Blaine) Kato of O‘ahu, Jean (RC) Schnackenberg of Kaua‘i and Joy (Gregg) Viquelia of O‘ahu; sisters Shizuko Nakamoto of O‘ahu and Toshiko Ishizaki of O‘ahu; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 3 to 4 p.m., service at 4 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 2, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
John Stasio
John Thomas “Butch” Stasio of Kapa‘a died Sept. 22, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 62. Born July 4, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, he was a landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ruth Stasio, brother Joe, sister Susan and sister-in-law Connie.
He is survived by his son Thomas of Dayton, Ohio, and sisters Jenny of Kaua‘i and Elizabeth of Oregon.
Services will be held at a later date.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Stasio family with arrangements.
