Manaoha is showing two free documentaries. “Taking Waikiki,” is by Kaua‘i residents Ed Coll and Carol Bain about how a once productive agricultural and aquaculture community was filled in to create Waikiki. The other, “Then There Were None,” by Native Hawaiian scholar Dr. Elizabeth Kapu‘uwailani Lindsey details the effect of western colonialism on the decline of the native population.
Following the movies will be a short presentation by kanaka activist Jimbo Alalem. Light refreshments will be served.

Child Care Program
Meals will be made available to enrolled children at no charge. Client (parent) income determines the amount of money the USDA will reimburse Head Start to provide meals to enrolled children. Kaua‘i Police Department and Kaua‘i Community College are restarting this program for young men and women ages 16 through 20 who are high school graduates or currently in high school. They must have a C or better grade average and wish to become involved in their community and ready to prepare for a career in the field of law enforcement.
