Mahalo to Tom Batey for being able to salvage things out of his wastebasket and stopping by so we had material for the Kaua‘i Marathon.
Ron Wiley was a victim of the road closure, but was finally able to get to the announcers’ booth to call out the finishers. Ed Kawamura Jr. probably had plenty miles on his shoes walking the course as he followed Leesha’s progress in the half marathon, and who was the gentleman from Japan who came in Friday just for the marathon before returning Monday?
Lani Kawahara was watching the event online before succumbing to the excitement and coming down in person, and Tim Bynum was one of the volunteers at the county’s aid station. Fire Capt. Steven Doi was volunteering there before heading out to Fill the Booth.
Hats off to Aunty Kapu and Pete Alquiza for making sure Na Hula o Kaohikukapulani dancers were everywhere.
