Marina Ganno
Marina Yago Ganno of McAllen, Texas, died Aug. 15, 2009, in McAllen Medical Center at age 47. Born on June 30, 1962, in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her father Isidro Yago.
She is survived by her husband Domingo Ganno; son Angelo Ganno; daughter Hilary Viernes; mother Teresa Yago; brothers Ccelso (Marissa) Yago, James (Jarilyn) Yago, Clint Yago, Phillip (Evelyn) Yago and Joiinny Yago; sisters Marietta (Amante) Balisacan and Olivia (Alex) Bernardo; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 28, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Visitation again from 8 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 29, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.
Colby Curtin
Colby Kumaikaohu Curtin died June 10, 2009, at her home in Huntington Beach, Calif., at age 10. Born on Aug. 30, 1998, she was a student at Newport Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph Kaohimaunu Jr. and Dora Contrades.
She is survived by her mother Lisa Curtin; uncles Stanley, Maurice, Thomas (Jackie) and Robert Contrades, Robert Mansfield Jr.; aunts Patricia Happek, Monica Contrades, Susan (Dennis) Brooks, Therese Staszkow; godparents Steve and Nette Manaday; numerus cousins and extended family.
A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, Aug. 29, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Visitation at 1 p.m. and Mass at 2 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested; the color pink is preferred.
Asayo Fukuda
Asayo Koigawachi Fukuda of Kapa‘a died August 15, 2009, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at age 90. Born on Jan. 16, 1919, in Lihu‘e, she was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Fukuda.
She is survived by sons Steven (Becky) Fukuda of O‘ahu and Bruce Fukuda of Kapa‘a; daughter Amy Fukuda of O‘ahu; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests no koden and graciously declines flowers.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Fukuda family with arrangements.
Laurice Kawahalau
Laurice Kawahalau of Hanapepe died Aug. 20, 2009, at Straub Hospital at age 35. Born Oct. 26, 1973, in Hawai‘i, she was a housekeeeper.
She was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Dotimas, daughter Sierra Kawahalau, grandma Anna Lee Abreu and grandfather Antonio Dotimas.
She is survived by her husband Wally “Kai” Kawahalau; daughters Chalani, Cherie and Rochelle “Chelly” Kawahalau; sons Wally Jr. “Kaiboy” and Wailani Kawahalau; hanai daughter Kacee Kanahele; mother Jean Abreu; sisters Sheri (Wesley Kishidi) Apilado, Azua (Kelvin Kanahele) Dotimas, Carlie (Winna “Ike”) Kaohelaulii; brother Walter Dotimas; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 11, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.
George Binder
George Peter Binder of Kapa‘a died Aug. 17, 2009, at his home at age 95. Born on June 18, 1914, in New Jersey, he was a retired engineer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta Binder.
He is survived by sons George Binder, James Binder and Kenneth Binder; daughter Susan Wells; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be private.

James Ishii
James A. Ishii of Lihu‘e died on Aug. 22, 2009, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at age 80. Born on Sept. 4, 1928, in Hanama‘ulu, he was a Korean War Veteran and volunteered with Kaua‘i Veterans Services for 15 years.
He is survived by many cousins and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission with visitation from 1 p.m. and services at 1:30 p.m.

Patricia Wright
Patricia Wilhelmina Stevens Wright of Princeville died Aug. 17, 2009, at Garden Island Healthcare/Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 100. Born on Nov. 11, 1908, in Newport, Wash., she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Joseph Wright, son Glenn Patrick Wright, grandson Charles Dean Wright, sister Noreen Mckee and daughter-in-law Nadine Wright.
She is survived by her sons George Wright of Redmond, Wash., William (Angela) Wright of Bellevue, Wash. and Charles Steven Wright of Nevada and Thailand; daughter Victoria Wright of Princeville; 12 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.

Jennie “Loke” Pereira of Anahola died Aug. 19, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 76. Born on Aug. 14, 1933, in Moloa‘a, she was a retired housekeeper for Coco Palms.
She is survived by her husband Charles “Blake” Pereira; daughters Cheryle (Vistor) Punua and Gloria Rafael; brother Castro Sonny (Irene) Lovell; sisters Diane O’Riley, Priscilla (Mike) Magallanes, Alvina Mills; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
Service from 9 to 11 a.m., Sept. 5, at Koolau Hula Church. Inurnment will be on Sept. 11, at Punch Bowl Cemetery.
Eusebio Dasalia
Eusebio T. Dasalia of Lihu‘e died Aug. 20, 2009, at Garden Island Healthcare Center at age 98. Born on Jan. 30, 1911, in the Philippines, he was a retired laborer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gregorio and Patrinillia Dasalia; son Paul Hanohano; first wife Meibers Hanohano; brother Marcelo Dasalia; sisters Engreta Mina, Lourdes Macaceray and Marsela Macaceray.
He is survived by his wife Veronica Dasalia; sons Paulmert Dasalia and Michael (Shana) Dasalia; daughters Paulann Momi (Kaleo) Lum, Loriann Dasalia, Noralynn (Kunane) Awong and Emily Dasalia; sister Felicitas Leicareo; 22 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Anahola Beach Park at 10:30 a.m., service at 11 a.m. Scattering of remains will be on a later date.

Lauren Keala Megumi Kagawa of Lihu‘e died Aug. 17, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 27. Born on Jan. 16, 1982, in San Francisco, Calif., she was an office assistant at ProService Hawai‘i.
She was preceded in death by her father Sam Kagawa, grandparents Tom and Betty Kagawa and Joichi and Haruye Nadatani.
She is survived by her mother Joy Kagawa of Lihu‘e, brother Dain Kagawa of Honolulu, sister Kimberly Kagawa of Lihu‘e, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30, with visitation at 3 p.m. and service at 4 p.m., at West Kaua‘i Waimea Honpa Hongwanji.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.

Cecelia Anne Gabriel of Kekaha died Aug. 20, 2009, at age 67. Born on March 4, 1942, in Lihu‘e, she was a housekeeper with the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert; father Francisco Rabot Sr.; mother Florentina Miguel; brothers Edward Rabot Sr. and Richard Rabot.
She is survived by sons Richard (Staci) Rosa, Paul (Kili) Gabriel and Dominic (Crystal) Rosa Sr.; daughter Melanie Rosa; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Henry (Kay) Rabot and Francisco Rabot Jr.; sisters Linda (Norman) Enos and Rosie Rabot; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary I. Tada of Lihu‘e died Aug. 19, 2009, at his home at age 68. Born on Jan. 18, 1941, in Lihu‘e, he was retired.
He was preceded in death by his father Satoru Tada, daughter Elizabeth Tada and sister Linda Ueoka.
He is survived by his son Jay I. Tada of Honolulu; daughters Tammy A. Ervin of Lihu‘e and Bonnie Shitabata of Honolulu; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother Lillian Miyake; sister Joan Tada of Palo Alto, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Richard Magyar
Richard Allan Magyar of Kekaha died Aug. 16, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 59. Born on April 18, 1950, in Owosso, Mich., he was a rescue helicopter crew chief for Priority 1 Air Rescue, recovery mission coordinator for Northrop Crumman and retired Senior Chief, USN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Frances Magyar and brother Peter Magyar.
He is survived by his wife Ann Magyar and stepson Nate Smith.
