PO‘IPU — A 76-year-old male visitor was found at the bottom of a swimming pool Sunday afternoon at Lawa‘i Beach Resort in Po‘ipu, according to a preliminary report.
He was brought to the surface around 1:53 p.m. by another male guest at the resort, a county news release states.
The bystander then contacted hotel security who started CPR. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they took over resuscitation efforts.
Initial reports on emergency scanner traffic said the man had reportedly suffered an apparent heart attack, but this could not be confirmed by press time.
The man, whose identity was not made available, was pronounced dead at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
