Ashlee Vea popped for 10 points to keep Pop It undefeated in the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association Girls 18 and Over summer league, Monday night.
Vea finished with high-point honors as Pop It clinched a 40-25 showing over the Wailua greenshirts who got seven points from Kelsey Cadiente and six points from Kira Taylan.
The F-N-G girls, paced by Westside guards Natalie Mata, home from Farrington High School, and Kierra Barba, are currently in second place following their 31-23 edge over the Kilauea Hui, coached by Mits Yokotake.
Mata finished with nine points followed by Barba netting eight points in the F-N-G win.
Kapua Chandler, point guard for the Hui, led the effort with 10 points followed by former Piopio Bear player Layna Christian adding eight points.
Joining Vea in the Pop It victory, former high school and university volleyball standout Virginia Aguilar added eight points. Kehau Regidor and Molly Connelly each finished with seven points in the win.
The next meeting of the Girls 18 and Over will take place Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center when Pop It hosts F-N-G, the top two seeded teams in the league, and the Kilauea Hui host Wailua.
Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
