The bridge, first closed at 10:45 a.m., was reportedly reopened at 2:45 p.m., but was later closed again.
Furthermore, a road crew with the state Department of Transportation was forced to clear a mudslide on Kuhio Highway in the Kalihiwai area, closing one lane of traffic, said a press release from county spokesperson, Mary Daubert.
At 12:46 p.m., rain gauges and radar showed heavy rain falling at 4 inches per hour over windward Kaua‘i and was nearly stationary, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
Locations impacted by the warning included Kapa‘a, Ha‘ena, Wainiha, Na Pali State Park, Moloa‘a, Kalalau Valley, Princeville, Koke‘e State Park, Kilauea, and Anahola.
