What are the chances of a student coming back to be the principal at the very school he attended? That is exactly what happened at Kaua‘i Christian Academy in Kilauea. After more than 30 years in Christian education, current principal Wayne Patton is handing the baton to Kilauea’s own Daniel Moore.
Moore grew up in Kilauea with his family, Dave and Carolyn Moore attending Kilauea School for Kindergarten and third through sixth grades. The family left Kaua‘i in 1990 with his parents returning in 1999. Moore, his wife, Aimee, and their two boys just returned to the island.
Moore chose Kaua‘i Christian Academy (KCA) because he feels it has an incredible staff of loving, gifted teachers. The KCA campus is on 10 acres and home to a new pre-school, with a gym presently under construction.
“I hope that each student will be pushed to achieve their maximum potential both personally and academically,” Moore states in a press release. “When a student spends time at KCA I want them to leave with all the character and skill they need to excel in life and impact this world in a positive way.”
Moore has worked in all grades from seven to twelve, assisting in direct and supplemental instruction in junior high and high schools. In January of 2006 he began work at Grace Community School as the junior high math teacher, teaching courses in pre-algebra, algebra and geometry. He then spent two years as the resident teacher in the Logos program at Grace Community Church. During those years he taught all the Old Testament, the New Testament and Systematic Theology.
Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Biblical Languages and Bible Exposition from Master’s College. He attended Master’s Seminary from 2003 to 2006 where he earned a Master of Divinity. Most recently he completed his Master of Theology in Old Testament.
