KOLOA — An employee of a Koloa restaurant was robbed late Wednesday after the restaurant was closed, a county press release says.
The restaurant was not identified.
The employee was walking to his car, which was parked in a lot near the intersection of Weliweli Road and Koloa Road, with the day’s receipts at around 11:25 p.m. when he was confronted.
The suspect, described as being six feet tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds, demanded that the employee give him the money and then fled on foot.
Kaua‘i police are advising merchants to take precautions when transporting or making deposits of their daily revenue.
Crime prevention tips offered by Kaua’i police include:
— Vary the times and routes of bank deposits.
— Have at least two employees open and close the business.
— Hire a private courier to make bank deposits.
