ACE Hardware goes greener
Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative would like to commend Terry Caplan, owner of Island ACE Hardware, located at Princeville Shopping Center, on being the first large installation of Light Emitting Diode technology lighting, on Kaua‘i. For the past 22 years, his entrepreneurial spirit has manifested in the very business he has worked hard to develop, said a recent press release.
Although he already had energy efficient T-8 florescent lighting, Terry has taken the need for greater cost control to the next level, while preserving quality customer service. Although LED technology is not new, its varied application is only now being recognized. With improved design, application, long life and acceptability bring the cost down — when measured against the high energy costs we are faced with — the return on investment is more easily justified.
With the added benefit of no heat (reducing AC load) and longer-life (50,000 or more hours) this may be just the solution for many of KIUC’s members.
With the assistance of KIUC’s 50 percent cost incentive, this project represents KIUC’s commitment and support of new technologies that are moving into the mainstream.
Malie Organics launches new program
Malie Organics continues to celebrate the natural and organic ingredients from Hawai‘i by announcing the launch of a new ecologically friendly guest amenity program based on a gallon refill structure. Malie’s Organic beauty collection is an earth friendly hospitality solution aiming to save money and resources while enhancing the guest’s memory, mood and state of mind.
Offering higher quality, natural luxury products for guest enjoyment while reducing waste and eliminating the individual disposable packaging. By refilling, there is less consumption of materials and thousands of bottles are saved from landfills.
As part of its evolving green commitment, the first to take advantage of this new opportunity is The Parrish Collection Kaua‘i — the finest selection of luxury ocean and beachfront vacation rentals in Po‘ipu. The Parrish Collection, always pioneering ways to provide more value for its owners and guests, will be providing luxurious Malie Organics brand products as an amenity in all of its properties — all while minimizing the impact on the environment.
Both Kaua‘i owned and operated Malie Organics and The Parrish Collection Kaua‘i are working together to provide innovation to Hawai‘i’s Hospitality Market with new ideas of how to minimize our global impact and provide luxury.
Malie’s Amenity program includes new products, organic shampoo and conditioner. Also available, organic body cream, hand soap, body wash and island ambiance reed diffuser.
