The Kaua‘i Bodyboarding Association’s second event of the year is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at 7 a.m. at Horner’s in the Wailua area, surf-permitting, according to a press release.
The go/no-go announcement will be available from Friday, May 1, at 635-7441, and the alternate site is Cemeteries near the Wailua Golf Course.
The KBA is a nonprofit, point-rated group of athletes, actively seeking skilled bodyboarders who are willing to train from amateur to profession levels.
Gifting now includes one-way airfare and entry fee payment to any pro/am USBA/IBA event on O‘ahu.
Kaua‘i currently is home to world champion bodyboarder David Hubbard (current and three-time drop-knee world champion), and former world champion Jeff Hubbard (ranked in the top 10 in the reg ular, prone bodyboarding division), and Kaua‘i wants to produce more of the same champions to hang on to those titles.
The Horner’s contest has been postponed twice due to lack of surf, organizers said.
