Two major Kaua‘i hotels recently announced their grand re-opening dates.
Ko‘a Kea Hotel & Resort at Po‘ipu Beach will open on Tuesday and the St. Regis Princeville Resort is expected to open Oct. 1.
the Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort, formerly the Po‘ipu Beach Hotel, is one of the oldest hotels on Kaua‘i, according to a press release. The resort has undergone a complete renovation and was one of the last two hotels (Coco Palms being the other) to have remain closed since Hurricane Iniki ravaged the island in 1992.
The hotel has reportedly returned to its “original Hawaiiana-style” character while upgrading and modernizing its amenities.
Peter Vincent Architects, part of the design team, said that there will be several new elements to the boutique hotel including a spa, pool, beach bar, updated guestrooms and the addition of suites.
The St. Regis Resort has postponed its opening again to Oct. 1, according to the Starwood Hotels Web site.
The resort had planned to reopen April 19.
“The St. Regis Princeville Resort will complete construction on July 1, 2009, at which time preparations will commence for the hotel’s debut on Sept. 19 and the Grand Opening on Oct. 1, 2009,” the hotel’s Web site said Sunday.
Attempts to reach Stephanie Kaluahine Reid, director of public relations for the St. Regis Princeville Resort, have been unsuccessful.
