On behalf of the people of Hawai‘i, we send our personal greetings of aloha to everyone observing Good Friday on April 10 and Easter Sunday on April 12.
For many people, these Christian holy days mark the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago. By reflecting on the themes of sacrifice and renewed hope, those of Christian faith can take the time to strengthen their commitment to their beliefs.
In Hawai‘i, we are blessed to be surrounded by the stunning beauty of our islands, a diverse culture which welcomes new friends and old, and the ideals of ‘ohana, which tie us to this special place we call home. As we relax, share a meal and take part in Good Friday and Easter Sunday traditions, let us remember our troops in the Middle East who are fighting for the principles of freedom and democracy. We appreciate the sacrifices made by members of our armed forces and their families.
We hope you and your ‘ohana are able to enjoy Good Friday and Easter Sunday, while continuing to spread the aloha spirit through kind actions and goodwill.
