KEKAHA — An 18-year-old Lawa‘i man died in a one-car crash early Sunday morning while a passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu, a county news release states.
The passenger, a female juvenile, is currently in stable condition at Queen’s.
Max Agor was eastbound on Kaumuali‘i Highway near St. Theresa’s Church at around 1:12 a.m. when he lost control of his Toyota pick-up truck, went onto the eastbound shoulder and flipped several times, according to a preliminary report.
Agor and the juvenile were ejected from the vehicle and landed on boulders on the side of the highway.
They were taken to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital where Agor was pronounced dead.
The juvenile was treated at KVMH and later medivaced to Queen’s for further treatment.
Speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash, the release says.
