The win gives the University of Hawai‘i diver a sweep of the 1-meter and the 3-meter events at the qualifier.
Friesen, a junior from North Vancouver, Canada, had already advanced to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year after winning the 3-meter, Thursday. She finished with a score of 591.4,
Freshman Daniella Nero of Sweden finished ninth in the 1-meter final on a score of 488.50.
Freshman Douglas Cohen of Colorado finished eighth in the men’s 3-meter final on a score of 617.80.
Both Cohen and Nero will compete in the Platform event, Saturday at the Zone E Qualifying Meet held at the University of Texas.
The NCAA Championships start March 19 in College Station, Texas.
Friesen is the reigning 1-meter NCAA champion.
