Coach John Kaneholani was especially happy since he waited all season for his niece to show up at one of the games. She finally did, Saturday night, but Kapa‘a lost.
Mahalo to Roland Tacsiat and Marlena Bunao for the preview of Malasada Tuesday. With all that variety, maybe we should have had a reader’s choice on which was the favorite.
Tyrin Texeira had a great outing for Lihu‘e at Sunday’s baseball game. After sitting in the dugout for most of the AJA season, he got to start on the mound, and after slugging it out for five innings, even got to score the tying run against Hanapepe after dad Bobby Texeira did pinch-hitting honors. Only problem, Bobby got beaned and Tyrin got to sub in as a runner.
And it was even more exciting because KSA had its soccer match at the stadium. Sierra Mayer was off to the hockey games almost immediately following her soccer game. Was nice to chat with coach Gwen Tamura who had the Hawaiian version of “Angel” for the KSC girls, and Sonny Kaona got to coach instead of referee.
