KMSA tomorrow
Afterburners, currently in first place following their 5-0 win over Cane Fire last week, will be playing Kryptonite starting at 8 p.m. tomorrow night at Vidinha Stadium.
Admission is free for the Kaua‘i Men’s Soccer Association game starting at 6 p.m. when Hanalei opens against Cane Fire.
NYC opens 2009 next Saturday
The public is invited to view the races and enjoy an Open House at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club when it opens its season Feb. 7, at the Nawiliwili Harbor.
The first sailing race starts at 10 a.m. and may be viewed from the harbor jetty wall at no charge.
Following the race, yacht dawgs and burgers are available for a nominal donation at the NYC Clubhouse at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor.
Yard games will be available, and interested people may take a sailboat harbor tour starting at 2 p.m. as part of the NYC open house.

Hanalei Canoe Club starts its season
Hanalei Canoe Club’s 2009 season begins at 10 a.m. on Feb. 7 with the annual meeting and registration followed by a potluck lunch, at the club’s main office building located near Weke Rd. (past the pier and down the dirt road, following the signs to the building).
Nominations for steering committee positions will be taken at the meeting. Paddling practice begins for men at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12. Women’s practices begin at 7:45. Feb. 14. The youth program starts March 24.

KHS paddlers host community project
The Kapa‘a High School paddlers will host a community service project for canoe paddlers from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Wailua River. The students will be explaining the basics of the sport, sharing stories of their experiences, and give a ride on an outrigger canoe. There is a suggested $10 to $15 donation.
The event will help support and sustain the Kapa‘a program and send paddlers to Maui championship racing.
Hanapepe Pop Warner seeks coaches
